Jubilee (mille fleur) Orpington project update - PICs pg4

Hi,
I am new here and do not know many ways how to communicate in that site, but i am trying.

I am dreaming about Swedish Flower and Orpington Jubelee. Do you know do they (Greenfire) have any sales or other way to get these beautiful birds without spending a fortune? I am relatively new in chicken’s world, have about few different breeds. Do it for pleasure/relaxation.
What is kind of behavior your Swedish show.
Thank you very much and good luck,
Francheska

Hi Francheska and welcome to byc. I am pretty much developing jubilee orpington from scratch. I don't know anything about swedish flowers. You could try emailing Greenfire or PM them on here and maybe they could help with your questions.

I called Greenfirev Farm and pair of Flower cost 400+100 shipping. Orpington 999 + 100.
Funny, i am a scientist in genetic/ molecular biology field and do not have idea how to make Jubilee Orpington. I've never cross any chickens, but bacteria and cells. How do you know how to breed JO, is it written somewhere? Do you have many separate cages with pairs of birds? Does fertile hens stay in separate cages to make sure that you are collecting right eggs. All mine chickens are very free range. I want to breed big silkie after I learn some basics.
Are you guys cooperative to buy expensive bird and share the progeny?
Sorry for so many questions.
Thank you,
Francheska

Here are some updated pics of 4 week old jubilee projects. Since our mottled orp size/type was better than the jubilee project, we crossed the mottled back into this project to see how it would go. You can see how these peeps looked at hatch here. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5968165#p5968165 About half were black/mottled and half were brown/mottled. I did not expect so much white feathering to come in, but this is a good sign we're on the right path. At least I hope so.

Jody

It looks like they are coming along very nicely.

Is there pictures somewhere on how the Mottled are coming along? I love the look of my Mottled Javas so I think a Mottled Orpington would be wonderful.

Thanks Happy Chooks! Yes, there are some boys in there, but there's 22 birds (after culling), so quite a few girls too. They were just a bit camera shy. lol

Thought I'd share some updated pics of the project birds growing out that are showing some mille pattern coming in.

Cockerels showing potential:

Pullet showing chest pattern (but has partridgey pattern on her back). It will be interesting to see if she gets more.

This cockerel has a little too much black for my liking, but has a nice body shape.
