July 2015 Hatch A Long HAL

The one time I had condensation in the incubator my humidity read above 80% and I had to lower it pretty quick before they drowned. I don't know what your hygrometer reading says.

My humidity just peaked near there. I removed sponges. I'm hoping that solves the problem. It's been a rocky day. I hope my chicks pull through.

Uh-oh. All three musketeers are on lockdown. Heh heh you think people who have been doing this for years watch this thread & make bets on us first timers' hatch rates? Lol

When I'm more experienced I'd like to guess hatch rates based on methods, breeds, and circumstances beyond control. Actually, my son and daughter each made predictions about our hatch rate. My son guessed about 75% (32 of 45). My daughter's guess is already wrong (42). No bets though. Maybe I'll give them each a chance to reguess and we can bet now. One shiny quarter.

I woke up to 80% humidity still. I took out more water. Lockdown hasn't really been going well. I hope the chicks survive all the meddling I've had to do. I ran at 65% for the first 5 days. I ran dry (35%) from Day 5 to day 17. Day 18 jumped to 80%. Today is Day 18 for the last few eggs I set. I'm hoping the humidity jump doesn't drown any chicks.

Finally reached target temp and humidity. And I haven't pulled all my hair out. I'm guessing the temperature will keep increasing so I have to stay attached to it for the next few hours. If I do this again I will get a different incubator or modify this one. It's not mine so I couldn't do anything before this hatch.
