July 2017 Hatchalong

This hatch has been a nightmare. 2 chicks out, 1 got stuck, the 2 who pipped the wrong end both got cling wrapped and needed an assist (one of those is out and one is still absorbing)

Another had zipped but then his beak got welded in somehow and he couldn't move his beak so I had to free him.

One is starting to zip now and that's it.

It's been a weird hatch, idk if it was the weird air cells but only 2/8 would have gotten out without assistance.

My bantam EEs are starting to draw down as of last night. They are due Thursday but I usually expect bantams a day or two early. I think I will move the eggs under the broodies when I get home today.

I have 1 guinea externally pipped, 3 internally pipped, and another 5 drawn down in the hatcher.

I moved the bantam EE eggs from the hatcher and put them under the hens when I got home last night. One is externally pipped. My girls are good mamas and fingers crossed they keep the other hens out of their boxes while the babies are trying to hatch.

It's not going great so far. One baby is out, but the one mama started pecking at it so I took the chick and eggs back. Another chick pipped and bled out and a third chick pipped and drowned. Hopefully it's the only one with excess fluid. Three eggs to go and they are back upright in the hatcher. The chick is keeping the one guinea company. I was hoping to let the girls raise these but I will probably just end up breaking them instead and brooding the chicks without a mama.

Hi everyone. It's been a few years since I hatched eggs so I've been trying to read up on the incubating threads. Any thoughts or guidance by any of you hatching masters would be greatly appreciated :bow. So here we go...

Ordered 12 shipped silkie eggs from CatDance Silkies. She shipped 24 eggs....Bless her! Got them in this morning. Sat in the post office since yesterday, ugh. They were very well packaged with an ice pack. I let them sit with fat side up at room temp since 10am.
Weapon of choice: Incu-View Incubator calibrated with a digital IncuTherm thermometer/hygrometer. First time using it.
Eggs went into the bator at 8pm. No turning for the next 2 days. After that, will set the auto turner to turn 7x a day til lockdown.
The Incu-View temps and humidity were inline with the digital one all day. Until I put the eggs in! Somehow I disrupted the Universe and it's galactic alignment so this bator hates me! :barnie

Where are my hatching masters, help!
Incubator humidity is close with the digital one I placed inside. But the temp is off by 4 degrees. Incubator set at 99.5 while the digital is at 103 right now! Should I lower the setting? Which thermometer should I trust?

I want to follow your hatch and see your chicks! I think I am getting some of her eggs soon! So exciting.
