July 2017 Hatchalong

Hi everyone. It's been a few years since I hatched eggs so I've been trying to read up on the incubating threads. Any thoughts or guidance by any of you hatching masters would be greatly appreciated :bow. So here we go...

Ordered 12 shipped silkie eggs from CatDance Silkies. She shipped 24 eggs....Bless her! Got them in this morning. Sat in the post office since yesterday, ugh. They were very well packaged with an ice pack. I let them sit with fat side up at room temp since 10am.
Weapon of choice: Incu-View Incubator calibrated with a digital IncuTherm thermometer/hygrometer. First time using it.
Eggs went into the bator at 8pm. No turning for the next 2 days. After that, will set the auto turner to turn 7x a day til lockdown.
The Incu-View temps and humidity were inline with the digital one all day. Until I put the eggs in! Somehow I disrupted the Universe and it's galactic alignment so this bator hates me! :barnie

Where are my hatching masters, help!
Incubator humidity is close with the digital one I placed inside. But the temp is off by 4 degrees. Incubator set at 99.5 while the digital is at 103 right now! Should I lower the setting? Which thermometer should I trust?

Ugh! I'm no master, just did my first hatch, but I will say that mine got to 105 a couple diffent days and I still had some hatch. Maybe try starting a seperate thread so more people see it?

What sort of digital is it? Unless it's medical or food, they have a large margin of error, + or - 2 or 3 degrees Fahrenheit usually. Food and medical thermometers are made for applications where accuracy is more important; I recommend one of those or an aquarium thermometer. Check it in a cup of ice with a tad of water, ensure it reads 32, and use that as your guide.

We have a pip!!!!

Hopefully more will follow and I'll wake up to some babies!

First baby just popped it a moment ago! I can see one more pip so far.

Is the new baby trampling the eggs going to hurt my other eggs? As far as disorienting them?

I usually take the chicks out as they hatch, especially if they are very active. I've had them knock a hatching chick pip down and it died because of their antics.

Removed the hatched baby since he was fluffed up. I've got 4 more pips. 2 are on the wrong end of the egg though. I can see movement so I'm going to leave them for a while longer before I mess with them.
