July 2017 Hatchalong

Pics
Of the ones on day 19, I started with 17 (12 ordered but extras sent). I'm down to 9. These got overheated a couple if times in the first few days so hopefully they don't come out with extras wings or anything.

I started with 9 down to 7 but today is end of day 21 with no pips...

I had a few spare minutes this morning and decided to candle. As soon as I walked in the room I heard faint raspy guinea chirps. Opened it up and a lone guinea was sitting in the turner slot, already dry. I don't really know how far along these guinea eggs are because someone was still laying in the nest while the broody was sitting, and you don't need with a broody guinea lol. I candled Friday, though, and none looked that far along. I moved the baby into the Hatcher to stay warm and I'll see if one of my broody hens will take it.

ETA I know I sound neglectful but the house is in upheaval right now as I am doing some remodeling and had to move the incubators tucked away in the gym out of the way. I'm so glad I checked though as I would feel horrible if it were stuck in there for days :(

One hatched during the night! It's just laying there. Is that normal?

Well.... I'm not hatching any more shipped eggs till we build a suitable incubator. The LGs are just horrible! Temp fluxes constantly. Starting to wonder if the board is bad that controls it. I started out with 14 eggs, now down to "2". 2!!! The other eggs that were shipped are in a better incubator and I've heard are doing well. So.... once these poor 2 are hatched... that bator will be tossed! I'm getting all sorts of plan ideas from the BYC boards, and will be buying a thermo-regulator, too. This is nonsense... and it depresses me. :barnie
