July 2021 Hatch-A-Long

I’ll join this hatch-a-long🐤😀!! I have 14 silkie eggs in my incubator right now and I’m currently on day 7!!! I’m so excited and hoping I have a good hatch rate. They’re eggs that came out of a “blue pen” so I’m hoping to get some lavender and porcelain babies ❤️

We had two early hatchers on Friday evening. Hatch day is supposed to be today (Sunday). We watched number three kick out last night and now we have six in the brooder. Two eggs are left in the incubator just to be sure. They seem viable, but are not pipped. The hatch so far is two mosaics and four cream legbar. These are our first for both types though. Any guesses on who is who? The all black is a mosaic I'm assuming. And the two tiny ones are dry but not fluffed, probably cream legbar female?

Ok I’m joining! I ordered chicks from a local farm. They are due to hatch on Wednesday, and the plan is to pick them up at 4pm est. Although I don’t have the fun of hearing peeping, I figured I’m waiting just like you all for my chickies to hatch! Praying they are on time and we aren’t prolonged until Thurs, I can barely sleep now! These are my first babies! ❤️

We've got a broody BSL, so we ordered 6 eggs for her to hatch. She went broody last Summer as well, but she has never had the opportunity to hatch. She's four. It'll be interesting watching her hatch.

We ordered the eggs from Open Gate Poultry Farm in Rhode Island. To maximize the diversity in our flock, we went with the rainbow mix of eggs. I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting, but I'm hoping for a Black Copper Maran and/or Olive Egger.
