My broody hen was 4 days past hatch date, when she ran out for food I went in and candled them, didn't look good, so we snuck in 3 that hatched last night in my incubator, she had them all tucked under her safety before we left her.....

That sounds good to me, but I have just one more concern about that. This is a tiny little thing. Not a bantam size or anything, but I'm really concerned she's gonna get picked on. Especially with taped toes. Add the fact that she's tiny and on the weak side....unable to walk well, unless the tape will help her a lot, she's gonna be at a distinct disadvantage if a bunch of chicks get to curious pecking.
We hatched a svart hona that had a similar hatch experience at the same time as some Cochins I separated her for a couple of days with the quietest one of the Cochins so she would have some behavior examples to model herself on and gentle company they are outside in the junior pen with the others and are inseparable now.

Woke up to three Creveceours out of their shells and two more peeping inside with pips. Much better experience so far than with the Bielefelders. Here is the first one out.

:fl

Somethings I have noticed about my Bielefelders:
1. they are quieter than my other chicks
2. They are more curious/adventurous than my other chicks. They seem almost bored in the brooder. They have plenty of food and water and are constantly pecking everything....lol.

Any ideas on what I can give them to play with? I am not sure what I can give them. I have some ideas. TIA

View attachment 2240942Well when I got home this morning I had another 8 that hatched, so that's 12 out of 14.They started hatching before I could remove the turner so they are all asleep this morning.
I got my first female chick from my lavender Orpington rooster and barred rock hen, so is she a blue orpington or a Plymouth blue rock?

Sorry such bad picture, I'll try to get a better one
Very cute! And I'd call it a Blue mix.
There is already a Blue Plymouth Rock sex-linked hybrid and a Plymouth Blue Rock breed.
(yeah, good and confusing!)
