I got no naked necks in the Turken eggs. Guess I’ll have to try again sometime. Anyone know of a turken breeder that sells eggs?

I have a couple people on my local list I made for Houston area for my local FB group that sell Naked Neck and are NPIP, so they may ship. I'll find out for you if they ship. Do you want shipped eggs or you want local to you?I got no naked necks in the Turken eggs. Guess I’ll have to try again sometime. Anyone know of a turken breeder that sells eggs?
Either is fine. I need to wait till after august 23rd so no rush. I have prior plans and cannot incubate until then. I don’t want to have to ask people to watch our incubator for us lol.I have a couple people on my local list I made for Houston area for my local FB group that sell Naked Neck and are NPIP, so they may ship. Momma is a great broody and my flock is a great chick flock. I've rehomed any aggressive birds over the years. She is fine with other hens around. She is just enough of dominance to protect the hens, but, lets any proven docile birds around the babies right away.If it were mine I'd let nature take it's course on the relationship.
How does momma bear mom react to having other chickens near her babies? Even ones that are just minding their own business but happen to be near?
I'd let the egg thoroughly warm up in the incubator and treat it as if it's still viable. Candle again tomorrow and see what you have.
Over the years I've seen a lot of things happen to perfectly good viable eggs that were just broody accidents. One year a first timer duck freaked out when the egg under her started moving, peeping, and pipping and she kicked it across the barn on a night when it was 45 degrees out. The eggs was very cold when I found it!
I took it in, warmed it up, helped it through hatching (because it was already started) and got a perfectly healthy duckling that grew up to raise her own babies just fine.
Skywalker2136Thanks guys! That’s what I was thinking. I think I might have 2 girls out of 9 ! I will let them all grow out and see which ones I like the best. Then I have a place I can sell any extras. @SnapdragonQ who was the seller you used from eBay. I might order from them and try again For more girls and different blood line.
Isn’t it great when your flock willingly accepts chicks! Mine is the same way. I have zero issues introducing new birds.Momma is a great broody and my flock is a great chick flock. I think she will continue to allow the previous baby around, maybe not sleep with them all, but who knows. I just order 6 crevecoeurs from McMurray to be shipped in two weeks. 5 female and a male. This makes them pretty damn expensive birds to put under a broody, but.... I think she will take them. Ive been SO WRONG this year on broodies, though, so, this is a gamble. I may change my mind and get just a couple of local chicks.
Yay!! SS is one of my favorite breeds.Woke up to a second speckled Sussex chick!
