Gave the quailies a dirt box today and they LOVE it LOL so cute

Also.... Jack’s begun attacking me.

I’m gonna give him another chance though because right now it’s only bluff attacks (today was only a charge) and only twice. He still runs when I confront him so hopefully I can remind him of his manners.

He still jumps the hens though instead of trying to win them over the proper way with dancing, tidbitting, etc. and poor Peach (his favorite) looks awful so between that and the sneak attacks, I’m about over it!

If he doesn’t shape up soon, he’s going to be stew!!!

Which would suck because he’s so pretty.

Ordered some more BCM eggs. LOL! The same seller I purchased my first batch from listed again! I have loved those chicks and would love more from that group......and a friend of mine would like some BCM's, so I will have a place to go with some extras. There are some really nice green eggs for sale on ebay too that I have been debating on. Have been holding out on buying much more as we are getting to the time frame where hatch would be pretty close to when we usually take vacation (but DH keeps saying it doesn't look like we will be able to take vacation where the crops are so late and we are looking at a possible early weaning with our calves....it is soooooo dry here! The pastures are almost all brown already. And the grasshoppers are eating anything left that is green. They are even starting to eat leaves on some of the trees.) Still want some isbars, but thinking I would like some splash ones and not really any listed right now. Also need to get my son some more d'Uccles.

Sorry to hear your experience wasn’t good. I ordered eggs at the beginning of June and never did get them but the seller did give me a refund wasn’t going to do the eBay thing again after that but then some cool eggs showed up with a great price so I said what the heck. Ordered them and actually got them a day early with not a single crack. I think shipped eggs are really a luck of the draw. Still haven’t candled them it’s not been 7 days yet, but from what I could see before setting there wasn’t even a single jiggly air cell this Tuesday night hopes I’ll be able to see development.

Just because they’re pretty isn’t a reason to keep him... there are many other cockerels looking for a home that would fit your flock better.

Just because they’re pretty isn’t a reason to keep him... there are many other cockerels looking for a home that would fit your flock better.

Those are all very good points!!! Although I never thought I’d hear you say to get rid of Jack

I’m hoping that it’s just a fluke and he doesn’t do it again because he’s normally a huge wimp so it’s super out of character haha

But I honestly don’t even mind the charging that much as long as he doesn’t make contact but I hate that he constantly jumps poor Peach

But then again the girls beat the out of him and he’s still scared of them so they at least keep him in line a little bit which is nice.

But I’ve noticed lately that they don’t even defend Peach anymore like they used to! They let him AND THEN!!! Bunny usually jumps on top of her after too!!!

Oh and I do have a bantam Cochin cockerel I’m planning on keeping too so if Jack doesn’t work out, maybe the Cochin will hahah
