Depending on what happens with my hatch of chickens I might look into Araucana. But I heard that they were could be interbred and might not be real Araucana. And considering the cost people are asking I don’t want to pay that for them if I am not really getting what I am paying for.
Yeah that’s why I’m skeptical of buying from others. I bought my purebred flock 2 years ago and I’m using them to cross my own breeds. I have added new lines by adding two farms chicks I hatched this year, I have no idea what most of them are.

The breeders friend is dropping off the Welsummer eggs today on his way past so they will be going into my orgiginal incubator with some of my eggs. I now have a very broody hen so that little dinosaur will be getting eggs given marked eggs to keep as well. The Marans arent due to arrive until tuesday/wednesday next week so I'll add my Araucana eggs at the same time as them along with more OE eggs

I've got a duck that's been toying with the idea of going broody for a while, but now seems committed to the idea. I have ducks that hatched Sunday and I'm wondering if I could safely give them to her and if anyone has any thoughts about that.

In some way my favorite time to hatch. My ducks and chickens that hatched in the fall all started laying early spring which was nice.
I think the best way to do this with geese is to wait until the broody is outside in a neutral location and release the baby where she can see it. My geese came and claimed the goslings and led them away. That's how I'd try with ducks. Just 2 or 3 at first, and watch close in case you have to rescue the babies.
