True true, the cabinet build was easy. You can see by the picture that I was in a hurry (as it is still ugly). 1 1/2" foam does the same as heating a space, the R-value makes it so the temp doesn't leak out of the incubator (except through the two 2" holes for ventilation. So it becomes stable without making an environment for it.

Edit to add the picture: (most have already seen it though)

That's awesome! Do you have or have you thought about making an article with instructions on how to build one of these? I have limited electrical knowledge, but can follow directions and would love to try something like this!

The Muscovy. Pekins are 🤢 they make everything messy. I traded all my ducks but the Muscovy for my 2 bunnies.
I want Silver Appleyards. They will live in the 80×100 garden. Hopefully enjoying bug patrol and the pond my wife tells me I now have to make. They will get the space to themselves until winter when the hoard (I mean chickens) move in.

Yeah, I can see that. We had a duck adopt us fir a while when I was in high school. It made a huge mess in its pool and all over the yard pretty regularly. I was kinda happy when it left.

Update on my shipped eggs;
Day Seven. Candled and weighed all 47 eggs.
Cream Legbar- 8 out of 15 viable, 2 DIS, 5 unsure
Bielefelder- 11 out of 14 viable, 3 unsure
Black Copper Maran (eBay)- 0 out of 6 viable, 6 unsure
Black Copper Maran (Omega Hills)- 3 out of 12 viable, 9 unsure
Average weight loss is 5%. Right on target. I've been running the humidity between 40%-45% and for now that seems to be doing just fine. I'm disapointed that the Black Copper Marans appear to have such a low rate of viability but it's still early and it's still very hard to see inside the shells on most of them. Cross my fingers. Overall though, nearly half of the eggs are definitely alive and that's what I expected even though I hope for more. I'll check progress again next week. BTW... the new brooder is nearly set up!

I'm still mulling over quail...

Me too!

Do it lol... honestly they’re the best in my opinion. You may need 2 per person per meal, but at the rate they grow it’s well worth it.

You guys are talking me into it.

Ducks are next. :p

Ducks are the best, in spite of the mess!

I got some feed store Pekins to be a buddy to my lone April hatcher. They are truly impressive how fast they grow and very sweet, but have shown me what duck mess can be in all of its glory and given me a new appreciation for my lighter and not AS messy harlies. Love them!

I was cleaning out their pool almost every 10 minutes 🤢 and their poop is watery and messy. Plus drakes are gross 😂
