Thanks guys! It’s heart breaking.

I fee like I’ve done everything I can. It’s definitely not 100%, but it has spells of chirping and activity followed by spells of resting which I feel are pretty normal for a 12 hour old chick.

It has had sugar water mixed with raw egg yolk a couple of times this afternoon and this evening, and has had a poop. The intestines seem to be staying in, and if it’s pooped I feel like that’s a good sign!

it’s resting comfortably in the brooder in its own little cup with the other Chicks so fingers crossed it makes it through. 🤞 🙏

People I've seen online have used a hot water bottle in the center of a towel-lined bowl. Like a big soft drink bottle filled with hot water I think though, that I would use a drink cooler rather than a bowl. They wrap the bottle in a towel, put it in the center, snug up the eggs around it, then cover them with more towels/blankets/whatever-they-have. You might want the towels barely damp, to keep up the humidity. If your water heater & stove are electric, look up cement block rocket stove on YouTube. VERY simple stove that burns twigs. All you do is stack up the blocks (4-5 of them, I think) light it, and set your pot on top.
I was wondering if a hot water bottle would be enough because I can definitely do that! I will look up the rocket stove too

Ah well baby Rambo didn’t make it through the night. 😢Possibly should have culled, but it didn’t seem to be in pain...so hoping it at least died comfortably.

first time with an assisted hatch and poorly chick, so was a good learning experience, if nothing else.
:hugs tough lesson though. :hugs

Just because it didn’t make it doesn’t mean you should’ve culled it. You did everything correct! Don’t be too hard on yourself :hugs

So I had my “last” hatch for July on Sunday/Monday. Ended up with 9 little silkies and 8 silkie/faverolle mixes. They are super cute! Then yesterday afternoon I got some new adult silkies and some chicks! They also came with almost 2 dozen eggs that are in different stages of development! The lady I got them from took them from under different broodies and brought them to my house. About an hour drive. I put them straight into the bator that was still on from my last chick hatching yesterday morning. Do you guys think these eggs have any chance? I candled them and some were still moving around. I just have absolutely no idea what day they are on or anything. Some looked to be almost ready to hatch and some look to be on day 7. I’ve got them all I. The same incubator but might move the day 7 ones to another. I guess this is what you all call a staggered hatch. Just don’t know what to expect with these guys.

Well we had some sad news but also some great news.....

mama decided to take her babies outside in the sunshine. And my other hen is being so good and gentle with the chicks too! She’s a model auntie 😍

the kids gave them all names...if I wasn’t dealing with lice in the coop, I’d put the 4 in the brooder straight out with the others.

That's too bad. You did your best, more than a lot of people would have :hugs
