July Hatch-A-Long

Number 18 hatched last night or this morning, number 19 pipped and just started a bit of zipping. Two eggs show no signs of activity.
But so far, 18 (and a half) out of 21. It's incredible. All Bramas hatched! It is day 22, well, at 18:00 (French time) day 22 starts. So who knows.

Picture under a red lamp, so I changed it into b/w:

Only one chick out of 4 has hatched, do you think he will get lonely by himself? I have someone who has week old chicks, should I buy one for my chick?

Awesome, what are you hatching??

My broody's Serama eggs are due to hatch in the next 2 or 3 days or so... I am glad to let her handle the hatch as I am feeling a bit spent. I have 3 cases of spraddle leg in my peas hatched yesterday and 5 taped feet. They are in berry boxes today... learning how to stand up and cheeping loudly : ) There sure is a lot of learning in this process! I hope to get better at it.
I don't exactly know what they are, I have a friend that keeps giving me eggs :) but they are all mixed and he doesnt know which is which, I only had one hatch, will it get lonely?

Here is my Fourth of July hatch! 21 barnyard mix, 8 heritage Rhode Island reds and 4 silkies:

I started with 72 eggs, set 51 and ended up with 33 chicks. When I set them I saw movement in all but 1 of the eggs, so I really am not sure what happened.

Sorry to be joining kinda late. These two little fluff balls arrived yesterday. I think they were in a hurry because they hatched while they were still on the egg turner. Surprise!!!

I wasn't expecting to even put them in lock down till today. Now I have 2 more hatched in the bator and at least 3 more pipped. It's crazy. It seems like all my chicks from my polish bantam decide to come earlier than I expect and I also have the best hatch rates with her eggs. They are so cute though and they all have different colors. My hen is all black (polish bantam cross) and my roo is a white crested black polish. I can't wait to see what some of them are going to look like when they get bigger.
Here's a pic of one that was hatched just 2 weeks ago.

And it's even cuter now.

I also just set 12 EE eggs and 12 more polish bantams along with 12 barnyard mixes all due around July 27. Here's to a great hatching month for all... Love these cuties.

I think I need to keep one but any others I get you can have.

You are so sweet, if only I lived near you ; ) I got a couple of Silkie eggs with my Seramas but they were clear. They were supposed to be buff porcelain or silver I think. I really want black but I haven't found anything around here and I am kind of scare of shipping eggs though I might be brave enough to try again once I have some decent hatches. I should probably just focus on all my new arrivals!! Hoping for more today!

LOCKDOWN!!

The babies just were placed into the egg tray. Humidity is still way too high, even for hatch...I keep having to manually add and subtract water and watch that hygrometer like a hawk. Ugh, the next several days are gonna be a VERY stressful. And sleepless.
I hope you are getting SOME sleep! Is today day 26? I am thinking happy ducky thoughts for you : )

So I had 3 more hatch while I was in town

. That makes 5 in the incubator right now with several more pipped, should I remove the chicks and their debris or leave them until the rest hatch. I don't want to mess anything up by opening the incubator too soon. Help

Went into lock down myself today. Heard an egg peep this morning and figured I needed to go ahead and do that. Lol
