We listen carefully to our members and visitors feedback and try to do all we can to accommodate as best we can.

Advertising keeps our amazing website community alive and free. Without the ads, our site would die... it's that simple.

That said, we definitely want to balance out user-experience with the ads on the site. One thing we've noticed is that different ad sizes are load and reload onto the site. This has shown to cause "jumpiness" as the page moves, shimmies, and shakes up/down to accommodate the various ad sizes.

So, one of the things we're testing now is a fixed-size area for the ads. This means that sometimes there may be blank area between posts if an ad doesn't load and/or a small ad loads in place. The strong HOPE is that this will solve the "jumpy ads" problem.

Please play around the site and let us know how it looks and how it's working for you.

Thanks!

I still get jumpiness when loading a new page. I just count to 3 to allow it to settle! There is a new type ad that is like a wallpaper behind the posts. When you scroll up and down it stays in one place. I thought I had a bit of muck on my screen and when I wiped it it disappeared behind the posts! It was the top of the ad!

Has this been implemented yet? The issue has not been resolved in my experience.

Yes. Depending on your device, browser, internet connection, browser extensions, etc., there may still be some page-adjusting as content loads.

If you still see the page "jumping", ESPECIALLY a while after the content has all finished loading, please reply with as much detail as possible including device type, Browser Version, at what point the page "jumps", etc.

HP Laptop, Chrome browser, immediately and incessantly.

Iphone6, Safari,

Pages still seem pretty jumpy, but what prompted me to check this thread is the "scrolling in the background" ads.

Usually they are a square, and it's pretty easy to scroll past them. But yesterday and today, there is a long (tall?) rectangle one that covers my whole screen so that it's difficult to touch a spot that will scroll it. So I'm kind of stuck there. This ad always shows up right after the first post on each page.

It might be partly due to my phone loading the page slowly. But it seems like it only happens with the "extra tall" scrolling ads. Is that a tactic ads are using now? Make it bigger than screen size so there is no touch screen space below the ad?

Thanks for the details!

Here is what we got back from our ad team:"And readers should be able to continue to scroll past the ad, without clicking it- like you mentioned. So far I haven't seen any of the full interscrollers displaying on the site or causing any scrolling issues. If you're able to get a screenshot from that reader that would be super helpful. "
