of the 20 i set of my own eggs, i had to not start and 2 blood rings. but everyone else seems to be pretty energetic in their shells!

Day 5 and I'm thinking about whether to candle or not. I just keep going back to the thought process of letting nature take it's course, but then really don't want the mess of rotten eggs exploding etc. What to do, what to do...

I don't think the one hen has left the nest at all, worried about her but praying she knows what she needs to do. I don't even think she has moved, she's still in the same position as she was on Tues  But she looks good! It's so interesting to watch this process!!

You can wait till day 10 if you want, nothing is going to explode before that. Do, make sure sure she is getting enough to eat and drink :)

Good luck Molly! Chicks will be here soon!!! Woot woot!

What is the best way to do that? The one is MEAN lol! The other I saw off the nest the other day, not sure she's been off since though?

I locked down my 2 ducks last night but screwed up big time. I set the mini up as my hatcher....totally forgot I had reduced the temp to 95.5 for my single chick to cool down after he hatched....so, they were in the incubator for 7 hours. Hopefully, I didn't kill them. I would be heartbroken. :(

If you saw her get off before I'm sure she is getting off still just in short bursts to eat and drink. The mean one, I don't know. You may have to wait till she gets off and then quickly candle as well as you can. Otherwise dunno hon

Candled the eggs under my BA broody - well one egg, anyway - and there is life! So hopefully the other nine are doing well too. I'll do a full candle when I can catch her off the nest. She only seems to want to get off every other day, so tomorrow I should be able to get a look at all of the eggs.

I am a little bit scared for my hatch. This morning I came to my incubator and only the fan was running. The eggs were all room temperature. I switched all the eggs to my homemade incubator but I am not sure what will happen. :/

Don't give up on them! They might hatch a little late, but eggs are amazingly resilient to cooling. I accidentally cooled goose eggs for about eight hours once and they all still hatched.

And I am about to put more goose eggs in the 'bator, and apparently some peafowl :th It'll be my first time with those, so fingers crossed. They will be due in July though - maybe I should start the new thread
