I haven't got quail, but I've got a feeling they're addicting. If chickens are the potato chips of the poultry world, just imagine the destruction a 1/3 of a chicken does!

LOL oh I am sure they are addicting but don't see my chickens getting along with them and can't build another enclosure so they must go. LOL Plus no clue what I would do with their eggs they are so freaking tiny!!!!!!!! LOL

Oh absolutely. Especially since she went broody 3 weeks after laying her first egg. She made hard to remember though, her behavior up till today had been stellar. Judging by how quickly she goes broody, I'm guessing she'll have another go during July, if she doesn't continue now (which she probably won't). But if it ever comes down to her health and hatching out a batch, I'm always going to choose Miss Cruella. I love her too much to part with her in such a way

I have found that my broodys break if I keep taking them off the nest box, even if only once or twice a day. They don't break right away but before the 3 weeks is up. Last year I did it to try to break them. Thenone time I had eggs in the incubator that I had just put in and one went broody that had already raised a chick so I let her stay broody but since she had already sat and raised a chick not too long before that I didn't want her losing much weight so took her off 1-2 times a day and yup she broke about 3-5 days before the eggs in the incubator hatched. Then earlier this year that is what I did to try to break my broody's and while not as fast as the crate it would eventually work. I have 2 broody's right now but with chicks in the coop brooder, chicks just kicked out of the coop broody, a mama with babies that were staying in the coop all the time until a few days ago I just don't have the space for the crate to break them... I had 3 but thankfully 1 broke, keep hoping the other 2 break soon!

3 fried quail eggs on top of each portion of Caesar Salad…mmmmm….

It only takes about 15 seconds to fry a quail egg!

I think they might be my next venture…my aunt has quail and shares eggs a few times a year, I find them tastier than chicken eggs!

That was my main concern. Part of the reason why I didn't go down to the coops yesterday. I sat near her a few times, and was walking around the coops for most of the day on Thursday. So I decided not to go down yesterday as a way to "decompress" her per se. I don't know if that's what did it. The only other time any stressor came near her is when eggs were placed under her, but I didn't move her for that, and she stayed on them after I left. We did have a quick rain, if I remember correctly, and I know for a fact that the nest gets a few droplets whenever it rains. And I mean that quite literally, because if I ever go to check on the bantam eggs (or actually more so back when I was constantly checking the fake eggs to see if they had started laying) all it would take was a quick wipe with my hand to make them dry. Could that have made her quit?

I've had hard-boiled quail eggs at a Vietnamese restaurant, and wasn't crazy about how they 'popped' when chewed. I love duck eggs, though. If given a choice, I'll take those over chicken eggs any day! That, and they don't affect my gut like chicken eggs do.

Anytime I mess with any of my Duck's nest they don't like it. Some people can candle the eggs and such but mine try to bite something fierce and hiss. Once I get them off of the nest using something I can get the eggs if I don't want them to go broody. I guess it would be possible you touching the eggs would disturb her. It would just depend on the nature of that particular bird. Mine would be upset and probably leave the nest due to how their behavior is. That is how I have been able to stop my others from becoming broody. My Ducks that have this behavior are my Mallards and Muscovy. I was never able to catch them off of the nest to ever do anything with their eggs.
