I had that same thing happen last hatch with my s. sussex. The 1 wih the biggest pip hole never hatched.

It is just going on day 21 and I have 1 pip.
Its even an egg I wouldnt have expected to develop. came from an ebay seller. Only 4 out of the 12 were unsmashed on arrival (and they reeked to high heaven). Only 2 out of the 4 made it to lockdown, but I didnt figure any would hatch. Its a large, speckly brown RIR egg. GO CHICKY!!

Buff beauty-I noticed in your siggy, your baby calls the chickens bock-bocks. My 5 yr old calls them chirpens (as well as kittens are kippens).
The name kinda stuck, so I call them chirpens and chirps for short.

4 chicks
1 Pure LF Light Brahma
3 Light Brahma x Barred Rocks

4 Pips- that are now zipping, resting, zipping

6 eggs that I can't see anything happening with........

13 more go into lockdown today......and should hatch on the 28th!

The 4 chicks have knocked the Humidity gauge upside down so I can't see it anymore.....I hate not seeing what is happening in there!.
I hate small windows, there has got to be a better way to do this!........

I just did eggtopsies on the two remaining eggs my broody had. The BR egg stopped developing around half way, pretty stinky.
The BO egg that was rocking just the other night made me sad, it got it' head into the air cell and wasnt able to pip out for whatever reason.The membrane was super duper think and hard for me to poke thru with a knife, I imagine the poor tyke couldnt get thru that either

Am I alone still hatching in June?? I have delaware eggs going on lockdown tomorrow.

I awoke today to new rir mix chick (from the shipped egg I didnt think would develop) from the pip I saw last night. And a pip in 1 turken egg!

I went in a few minutes ago to check on new chicky, to find a black complete naked neck almost out!! And it wasnt even the pipped egg I noticed!!! YAY!!

1 more mixed egg (out of the badly smashed shipped batch), 5 more turkens (and only 1 pip in those that I can see)

ok Brooder set up, first 4 chicks moved into it....

we have 3 more chicks and 3 pips......

4 more eggs to go in this batch.......

Humidity was 80% and Temp was 100.8 after removal of the 4 chicks.....so I think we are doing well considering....this is the first time I have used the Brower as a hatcher.....

ETA: Set the Humidity gauge back up so I can read it while I was pulling the dry chicks.....
