Oh you guys something killed my mama hen Opal last night. What a heartbreak! I went out this morning and whatever killed her did it through the fence. I think 3 of the babies are gone too. The remaining ones are so scared they run away and hide. I haven't even been able to count them. A very sad day of chicken keeping.

Set 15 eggs today from OldTimeGator!

And the eggs from Little Ameracauna Mom are on day 3, so I checked them and it looks like 8/11 are growing.

For my first hatch of the year ( I'm a college student! D: ), I was hatching goose eggs in my brand-new incubator that I've been waiting to touch since December. I set 14 eggs, 12 were good past day 4. Today, 8 hatched. 11 of them made it to lockdown. 1 other may hatch, but I'm already so satisfied! One gosling had to be helped out and got stuck to the bottom of the incubator, but seems to be doing okay. I am welcoming Marmalade, Jello, Honey, Sugar, Lemonade, Mango, Blueberry, and Pineapple (the one who got stuck) into the world. Here's four of them:

I agree, yeah for goslings. We hatched one in April, a Chinese. He/she is quite large now!! (pic is my avatar back when he/she fit in my hand!! wow!)
Goosey is happily in with our bum foot duck that TSC told us to bring home since his foot was deformed. They are both sweet.

I have turken eggs going on lockdown tomorrow.

For decent hatch on these (since my hatch rates suck).

I just put in my order for 9 more eggs! Going to give it a go again since I am pretty convinced I only got 2 hens out of this bunch. I do have a lot of cute baby barred rock roos though if anyone needs one!!

Going to try 3 of each: Golden Laced Wyandottes, Wheaten Ameraucanas and (gulp) Black Copper Marans.

I guess I'll have to join the July Hatch a Long.

today is day 21 over her.
I had a turken egg hatch out partially at the small end, it died and when i cracked it open for a look the yolk was outside of the body and looked infected.Pretty nasty stuff.
My BO egg was rocking earlier but other than that no activity.
