June hatch-a-long!

Pics
I hate to post three times in a row but I have a question. There is a chick still in an egg that’s partially out and trying to push completely out of the shell, but I think it’s stuck. It’s been like that for a couple of hours, it’s still breathing though. I can see it. Should I help it out?

I came home to two more additions.

My OEGB broody has successfully hatched 4 of 6 at this point. Too dark for pictures tonight.

The other is in the incubator. It is the smallest of the OEGB eggs. Two more have been rocking like crazy.

I started this year with 11 chickens. I now have 37 and 13 more possibles. I definitely need to get busy building more "chicken panels".

I got this picture yesterday morning.

I wish I had an answer for you. Can you get a picture? So that someone more knowledgeable can let you know what the risks are of assisting versus letting it try?

I hope you get a better answer soon.

I opened the shell a little bit already and am now seeing if it can push out by itself. In 15 if it hasn’t come out I’ll open the shell more. I’m not sure if pictures will upload right now but I’ll try. They’ll be from before I opened it.

From what I have read, as long as you aren't seeing blood then the chick is ready so the risk is minimal. But, all I know is what I've read.

It seems to me your approach of help a little, wait a little while is a good one.

I hope all goes well.

Thank you. It’s been partially out since about 8 (Eastern Time) this morning and it’s now almost 11. It’s still struggling so I’ll probably have to open it up more. I bet the poor thing is exhausted and just wants out but can’t do it by itself. Luckily I’m pretty sure it’s the last one since there are no more pips which means opening the incubator so much only affects the one chick.

I hadn’t noticed that it’s head was a little shrink wrapped but once I fixed that and put it back in the bator it got out. It’s all good now aside from the usual umbilical cord still being attached to to the egg. Now it’s gotta fluff up and I have to see if the remaining three eggs might possibly pip. My chick total is up to 8 and the breed of this one is unknown until it fluffs.
