Soooo....I may have over done it lol. Completely forgot that I have 3 dz at a friends on week 2 now, (2 dz BBS Marans & 1 z Welsummers). 27 Swedish Duck Eggs, 2dz silkie eggs & 18 Salmon Faverolles just went into the bator here....

Just set 48 coturnix quail eggs in the first run of my newly built incubator 2.0. Wish me luck friends, my last hatch rate on my first built incubator was just so bad. But I’ve learned so much and I have high hopes

What do you do with 48 quail? Just interested.

Ducks are for sale, I'll keep a few Welsummer pullet chicks for the laying flock but the rest are for sale. Marans I'll grow out and choose a nice small group to keep, Faverolles are to build my existing breeding group. Hens will go into laying pen to grow out, the extra boys will join the bachelor flock. Nicest one will stay and extra boys go into the freezer. Silkies I'll keep the nicest ones for the flock and sell the rest lol.

Candled tonight and 3 of 4 in incubator appear viable and 3 of 5 under Ms. Buttercup show signs of life. Crossing fingers that these keep going! All are silkies from shipped eggs originally ordered for broody. Worst air cells are carton incubating.

Do you ever have a problem selling them? Do they sell as well or better if you grow them out a bit? I have 17 chixken eggs in the bator right now from my neighbors chickens......lol!

After reading all you have to do with incubator I want to stick with broody forever but that’s not very possible.

Ugh I need a broody Bantom just to avoid incubating! Lol

I’m trying to bring my hen population up. I have a large aviary set up. I’ll have hens for eggs for eating and I will be processing extra Roos for the bbq.
I live in an urban environment where poultry is not allowed so these ‘game birds’ are my loop hole
I may get some chicken hens in the future depending how my neighbors take to the quails.

Do you ever have a problem selling them? Do they sell as well or better if you grow them out a bit? I have 17 chixken eggs in the bator right now from my neighbors chickens......lol!

Never run into an issue, not many people near me have these ducks so I always have a waiting list & generally purebred chicks sell fast.
