June Hatch A Long

Pics
Okay now I wanna cry. I lost the big nosed one I think and one of littler yellow ones and a black and white not sure why.

It looks like they just stopped breathing.

So sorry for your loss :( :hugs:hugs:hugs
I don’t know what could have happened, I know even less about ducks than I do about chickens. I just broke my streaming video over cell data rule to peek at your babies. All their bills are clear of the membrane and they look good... I’m praying for your little duckies :fl try not to feel too badly. We can’t be there 24/7 and your doing the best you can. How’s your humidity now?

I can’t stop staring at @LilyD ’s babies too.

Just checked in on mine.

29 ducklings still growing! I just finished day 9, and I’ve got teeny dancing babies already. I’m pretty proud of them ... they look like excellent swimmers already. ;)

I’m doing a little experiment and I have my very worst saddled air cell on its side. There’s another one almost as saddled upright. I’m just curious since ducks are supposed to do better on their side, what will happen. It’s not displaced, just saddled, you can see the pencil markings. After 21 days, I’ll take it out and see how stable it is. I mean it’s probably not gonna hatch, so why not see what happens....:fl

I started cooling and misting my Australian eggs tonight. I figured while they were cooling I would candle quick. It seems I have one really strong started, two moderately started, and one I can just see starting. My 7 day candle isn’t until Saturday night, to really see what might be going on. I won’t be pulling my clears until day ten though.

Other notes my Welshies eggs got here today. No broken eggs but wobbly air cells. They will be set tomorrow.

I started catching up on this thread this afternoon. I felt terrible when the baby hatched with his yolk. I had one who did the same thing, but never made it out of the egg. My heart broke for the little guy. But inside I was rooting. Then he passed and I was horribly sad for you. And then the saga of Big Beak happened, and I was thrilled again. Then to hear he died.... :(

I'm so sorry for your losses! It's been a roller coaster of a ride.

I tend to find at least with the birds I had in the past either they are great broodies or horrible. There doesn't seem to be an in between. Usually if a hen starts acting wishy washy on her eggs I would take them from her and finish incubating and not let her sit anymore.
She has been great at sitting til yesterday she just decided to set in a different nest. I went out tonight to mark the eggs she has now and she tore into me. I have never had a broody hen that is this aggressive.

I marked all 10 eggs like a Soldier.

OMG! Ouch!!! I’m out of town and my 16 yr old daughter is taking care of poultry. We have some major broodies! Out Welsh Harlequin duck stole the (fake) eggs from our hen, so my daughter decided to steal the eggs back and the broodie duck bit her and drew blood! I didn’t even know that a duck could do that!
