June Hatch A Long

So sorry for your loss :( :hugs:hugs:hugs
I don’t know what could have happened, I know even less about ducks than I do about chickens. I just broke my streaming video over cell data rule to peek at your babies. All their bills are clear of the membrane and they look good... I’m praying for your little duckies :fl try not to feel too badly. We can’t be there 24/7 and your doing the best you can. How’s your humidity now?

We are still in the 70's just re coconuted the little ones X was not amused. He wants out now but still has some veining left to take care of.

Just checked again on the veining. It's less but still there so they will wait a little longer. X does not approve. He wants out now and is very vocal about it. I think the little yellow chick wasn't fully developed. I opened the egg and her eyes didn't look right. Big Beak had no room in his shell at all to do anything. I should have probably acted sooner. Not sure what happened with the other but he just gave up. These 4 are all doing well chewing and yawning away. I can see the yolk still a bit under Mr X's beak as he moves. So he still needs time no matter what he says.

Thank you for sticking by me it's nice to have friends along on the journey. Hoping these guys make it. The other two eggs were still moving too when I checked. :fl

She has been great at sitting til yesterday she just decided to set in a different nest. I went out tonight to mark the eggs she has now and she tore into me. I have never had a broody hen that is this aggressive.

I marked all 10 eggs like a Soldier.View attachment 1804096 I think I will be more prepared tomorrow, but now she has me gun-shy lol.

Ouch! Two words for you “welding gloves” looks like you might want some!

Go duckies!!! We are all so invested in you hatch, they will do it, I’m sure!

Well one of the “dry white membranes I was worried about is out, I have two newbies fluffed out in the incubator, and 6 pips... one of those was one of the first from this morning and the one I’m worried may have gotten shrink wrapped. It’s been over 12 hours at least with no progress... I promised myself I would be as hands off with this hatch as possible, short of intervening in egg soccer matches.

My incubator is nasty from the chick I lost’s yolk and blood, and there have been two poops I can see, plus all the hatching goops. Still absolutely nothing going on with my Marans eggs... and I’m going to have to go in to town tomorrow to the vet with my cat, who is very ill. 15 healthy active chicks so far from my 41 eggs set. One early quitter and the one I lost. My hatch rate is already much better than my last experience. I’m hoping most everyone will be out before I leave at 10am tomorrow as I might not get back until 10pm.

Go chickies you can do it!

X just needs to push and he's out membrane is pushed back veining has gone. Whenever he is ready. The other X and the O are almost ready. Still chewing and yawning so a bit to go. The yellow chick has a lot of veining still so will need more time maybe by tomorrow night.

14 hours no progress, no large viewing on the inner membrane I could see. I need to get this chick in a good place before I can sleep... is it mal positioned?

head is under right wing? I think it’s getting too tired, so I’ve assisted to here, because I’m worried I shrink wrapped it in dealing with the chick with the unabsorbed yolk...

Final update on my assisted hatch, He made a full recovery! :) Tiny as can be. All the other babies were bigger than my (week old) silkie baby. The Claw is smaller than my silkie His eyes have stopped bothering him. He seems to have gotten over his limp. He now runs around the cage peeping. I showed them where the water dish is and he dug in. His entire belly is wet now. The others joined in the fun and also got very wet.

I had a huge anxiety attack when I thought he might not make it. I can't imagine how you all do it!

Deep breathing, taking breaks and leaving the incubator for things like sleep and eating, sitting on my hands a lot... and remembering that sometimes, no matter how well you control things, problems happen, and it’s not your fault. And acceptance of circumstances beyond your control.
