Who wants to join in? I had so much fun with the Easter Hatch A Long and learned so so much, I’m hatching duck eggs for June! If you’re just setting eggs now or have set eggs to hatch for June, hop on in.

Anyone else who wants to join, you’ve got until June 2 to set duck eggs, and June 9 to set chicken eggs.

You can also join just for the adorable baby photos... I know I’ll be posting them. I’ve never hatched ducklings before! :fl

Never done it? No problem, that’s the point of Hatch a Longs! Im happy to help enable your chicken addiction. There’s plenty of time to get an incubator and hatching eggs together.

Plus - June is a fabulous time to raise baby chicks outdoors. If you’ve never tried it, you must! They’ll thrive through the heat AND you’ll have new layers by Christmas.

As for me I ordered hatching eggs from metzer farms.... a dozen assorted eggs and 6 Welsh Harlequin. They’ll be shipping out Thursday or Friday.

I'm in! I was just commenting on a May hatch-a-long that I needed to find a June hatch-a-long! I already have some goose eggs set and I'm going on a mini road trip with my friend next week to pick up more hatching eggs! I'll be picking up Mottled Orpingtons, Silver Sebrights, Mallard Ducks, Whiting's True Blues, and a few Crested Cream Legbars!

Welcome @ChickenLady♡! Your hen’s got this! :)

What’s winter like for you all?
At the moment the days are lovely at about 18-20C (mid to high 60'sF), and the nights around 9-12C (around 50F). My concern is more mid June onwards when the babies will still be tiny - days might be 12-15C (mid 50'sF) but nights might be down to 2C (low 30'sF). Still not as bad as most of the winters in the US though, fingers crossed.

Omg goose eggs. I’m slowly reading about geese and I am trying to learn more. They’re so interesting, and a perfect barnyard addition.

Do you have geese? Do they have to be by themselves?

Also, when you hatch mallard eggs, do you have to do something to “mark” them when they hatch?

This will actually be a first for me hatching goslings and ducklings! My friend has her geese and ducks together though.
I've become a total hatchaholic! I enjoyed hatching chicks for myself so much that I started hatching them for friends, I've set 119 eggs so far this year and 81 healthy happy chicks hatched! I was kind of blown away when I looked at my own numbers! I didn't realize I had hatched so many! lol
Anyway, I likely bit off more than I can chew this time because I agreed to hatch the chicks and Mallard ducklings before a friend called and asked if I could help her out with the goose eggs because predators kept stealing them from her geese!...Well I couldn't say no to the opportunity, could I!? Haha, so I ordered another incubator that should arrive today and by June 1st I will have no less than FOUR incubators running in my chicken room. :D
