June Hatch A Long

I woke at 1:30am to my Bator beeping (usually something is to high/low) and this little cutie surprised me, my pip turned into a chick!! I’ve spotted one other ext pip as well.

Looks like I'm in. I just found a hen setting on eggs. She has 12 eggs that will be mixed. I candled the eggs and they look to be about 2 to 3 days along.

I already have 41 chicks and 2 ducks from April's hatch and I ordered some, so what's a few more. Chicken math

Noooo! we were so close to meeting them. How long was the power out?

About 5 hours that I know of. Temp got down to 74 degrees.

I was curious and did a little reading and I think the consensus is the broody will clean them. By rolling them around and her oils. Fascinating.

As I said before... I want a broody!!!!

That’s what happened with my broody’s eggs. Our friend gave them to me filthy, and when she was off the nest today they were all so clean I double checked my markings to make sure they were actually her eggs.

So excited to see what tomorrow brings for my duck eggs under my neighbor's broody. Got scared this evening when I went to lock my ducks up in their house for the night. I didn't see the hen outside with my Drake. Low and behold.... Now if only she would STAY on them. she only seems to sit at night.

Super excited my Australian Spotted Duck eggs will be here tomorrow! That means my little eggletts will be able to be set tomorrow night or Sunday morning. I am thrilled. And hoping for a better result than my Black East Indies.

I didn't order anymore. The 41 is from the ones I hatched and ordered. I gave my mama half of the chicks that was ordered in the surprise box, and I bought silver leghorns and California Grays from Tractor Supply. I had more but I have lost a few because most of them just run the yard with the chickens now.

I really didn't want anymore right now, but I had some really pretty chicks hatch from my own eggs in the easter hatch along, so now I can't wait to see what pops out.
