June Hatch A Long

Pics
It doesn't look like there are any blood vessels on the membrane behind it's head maybe I can actually pull the head backwards out of the membrane instead of trying to dig deeper for the beak? What do you think?

Maybe you can carefully pip a hole through the membrane since the blood vessels are so clearly seen you can stay between them and just put the hole by the bill so it can breathe without pulling the head back yet. That way maybe it will start to pull in the yolk sac and blood vessels without prematurely trying to hatch. You may also have a hard time moving the head through a hole without accidentally tearing a blood vessel, there's a lot.

Agreed, that is one of my major worries. There is a blood vessel on the egg shell right around where the beak would be on the side of the egg which has me worried. Not sure if I can get to the beak through that side without possibly hitting a blood vessel and killing it.

Yes, it looks like there are many veins still... and you don’t want it to decide to get ahead like my little 13th chick :fl

For now I think I am just going to wait and maybe hope that the vessels will start to recede a bit. I am trying to slowly pull back the shell where I think the beak is but not very confident I can get to the beak without hitting a blood vessel.

It hasn’t absorbed its yolk yet, I could tell when I went to put it in cup, we got a cup top around it... it wouldn’t fit with the shell and chick. I don’t know why this one decided to come out early... everyone else was good.

It happens sometimes! I had it happen with one of the chicks I tried to save from under my first broody. It didn't go well and I've learned A LOT since that day but it may be easier for you to prop him upright with some paper towels too.

Hi @Ribh , sorry when I tried to update site was down for a bit... then I woke up to this chick.... it just got out of the cup and now I’m afraid the yolk is leaking. Not looking good.

It's ok! You're doing everything you can! Just keep trying to help the little one and if it doesn't make it you'll know you tried everything! :hugs

It won’t stay in the darn cup! Keeps trying to get out... it just tore the yolk sac open and leaked
