June Hatch A Long

I know in Orps Lavender is a sex controlled color so if you have a Male that is Black and female that is lavender you would get a Male chick that would be black but split to lavender so their babies if bred to lavender would be 50% lavender. Not sure how it would work the other way around or even if it works the same in other poultry.

Apparently in ducks lavender (and lilac) is a combination of the blue (BL) gene and sex linked chocolate (d) gene. Interesting that it works that way in orpingtons. Sounds easier! I would love to have not mainly blue's this year but some blacks heehee..

Nope. I actually need around 30+ more names before july :p

Well in that case... I can't just stop if my corny mastery is needed now can I? Lol

AC/DC - AC/DuCky
Tom Petty - Tom Pecky
Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Quack
The Smashing Pumpkins - The Smashing Paddle
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Red Hot Chili Feathers
Counting Crows - Counting Quacks
Alice In Chains - Alice in Plumage
Hootie and the Blowfish - Hootie and the Broadbills

Lavender in chickens is a dilute of a black gene so instead of being BB for black it's bb for Lavender and Bb for blue. I do know in Scovies Lavender is a cross between brown and blue so it's like a brown with blue bleeding through on the feathers. Lilac is a true blue dilute more of a silver.

Day 16, broody returning to eggs after her short break. She carefully tucked them all under.

I just love your broody! I drove a long way to get Silver Sebright hatching eggs and ended up only getting a single egg and it's not fertilized. I'm definitely going to try to find some again because I just think they're so pretty!
