June Hatch A Long

Pics
I'm sorry about your loss! I hope the rest of your hatch goes smoother for you!

I hatched 4 Crested Cream Legbars in my last hatch and got lucky with 3 pullets and 1 rooster, lol. I only set a few this time again but they have the frosted gene, I'm really hoping for one but you can't sex the white ones.

I also got four opals and on them I was 3 pullets, too!

My opal legbar pullets are my absolute favoooooorite birds.

I'm giving it another go... I just stuck 7 eggs under a broody, and 8 under my other broody.. And I put 11 in the incubator! Due on June 29!

Yay more late June hatches!!

I’m seeing some movement in my Marans eggs through the safety holes, I have one shrink wrapped chick I’m sure... it didn’t have a safety hole, I was 90% certain it was DIS I opened up the fat end and the inner membrane is totally dry I touched the dried inner membrane and poked it and the chick moved...

I think it’s malpisutioned but can’t tell. I’m going to oil the membrane and open the outer membrane and shell a little farther. I can’t see the beak is my concern I think it might be in the pointy end...

Use Coconut oil or vegetable oil if you don't have coconut with a qtip and put it all over the membrane to moisten it then you should be able to see the veining.

Is this what a shrink wrapped chick looks like? There wasn’t a pip when I went to give it a safety hole (I’m going to be away all day again) the fat end of the chill just broke wide open (my last pic) and I could see the membrane was extremely dry, this will be chick 30 if she makes it, 29 is still in shell, but I’m sure will be out by the end of today.

Once I oiled the membrane it was clear this little isn’t ready yet, it’s day 23.

Yeah it doesn't look fully developed. It's beak will be to the right center and will be angled towards the back of the egg it looks like. I do see feathers so you can try putting it into the incubator the way it is and see if it can get out now that you softened the membrane.

I’m guessing all the opening and fussing dealing with the early Hatcher dropped the humidity way too low, it’s still definitely alive though. And I’m seeing some movement in my Marans through the little safety holes... I’m going to correct up my humidity, it dropped from 70% to 48 overnight somehow, even though I had two hatch out last night which usually ups the humidity... :hmm
