June Hatch A Long

I've still got this little guy in it's shell. I'm going to be putting the other two in the brooder shortly. Should I leave this guy be for now or help it out a bit? The fluff is from the other babies, I did put some oil on the membrane this morning and pull some shell away but it's made no progress since then, it's been about 6 hours.

Are you able to see where the membrane is stuck to the chick? It seemed like a large portion of the chick was exposed. You can actually pull back pieces of the shell while leaving the membrane underneath intact. It will give the chick more wiggle room to start pushing itself out and should give you a better idea of what's going on farther down in the egg as well.
If @LilyD is around she's our duckling master.
Yes, I can definitely see where it's tight around him ( btw, idk why I keep saying ' him ' lol, he just seems like a male ) ....I only chipped a bit right now & oiled the bit of membrane I can see, & he looks like he's slid out just a tiny bit more already. I'm taking a small break before I proceed because I'm still so worried, since the bleeding incident earlier....is that okay, to do this slowly ? Or is it urgent ?

I’m sure that more experienced assisters will chime in soon to tell you slow is fine. Clearly the duckling can breathe so shouldn’t be an emergency. Can you tell if the membrane vessels have receded?

I can't tell from all the fluff covering the membrane. It's always easier to tell in person then via an image anyway so I would just use a qtip to clean off some of the fuzz and see how the blood vessels look.

Slowly is good! As long as nothing is obstructing the airways it's perfectly fine to proceed slowly and in most cases is recommended.

Zooming in on your pic, I’m seeing the membrane torn away near the bill but still containing blood vessels elsewhere. Is that what you see in person? 6 hours from external pip?

Getting big quick, aren’t they!

Quail make me giggle they’re always so tiny, even when they’re “big”.

Yes slow slow slow! @CluckNDoodle’s line is my fave... they’ve been in there for a long time a few more hours won’t hurt.

They may sound urgent, but, I don’t think there’s anything particular about this situation that is urgent and the more you can let them take their time, the better.

We’re you able to read the assist link cluckndoodle sent?

Also, we have all watched multiple DAYS long hatching and assisted hatching of water fowl in this thread right here. Do not worry, you’ve got this and still have time. Read that article if you haven’t while you’re waiting on pins and needles.

Omg. Cluckndoodle did I just realize you probably have a golden doodle? Or some sort of doodle? Pics!!!

You guys are angels & I appreciate you all so much, I wanted to say that before anything :) The veins look almost like tiny spider webs ? They look like someone took a very thin, fine point red pen & drew on the membrane. Is this good ? I'm moving very slowly & no blood yet

Glad we could be here to help walk you through it but you're doing great! It does sound like it's safe to proceed but if you see blood, don't panic, you go this! With just enough room the duckling should at least be able to get its head out.

Cleaned up a little and added some oil. Definitely seeing some blood vessels further back in the shell but seem to be gone around the beak. I'll give it a little bit.
