June Hatch-A-Long

The Meyers are pures SS, partradge rock, and BA, the rest are a barnyard mix, Pure parents, so there may be some pure chicks Hens and roosters are the same breeds.. I can only say for sure the dark eggs are BCM, the blue eggs are legbar, and one tan egg could be falvorelle, or cochin, the white egg is EF-AC, LO,blue cochin/blue isbar mix.

Oh, on the hatching eggs when I ordered through Meyers they only had eggs listed until the end of May, now they have some listed into July. I don't know if people placed orders then changed their minds or not. Sorry if I confused anyone by saying they were done sellingeggs. They ship them well I think. They did send some I would not have chosen to hatch myself. I have had a better hatch rate from some ebay people though. I don't think I would do eggs by them in the future, this year was a big shipment experiment plus I mail order what I could not get local. Next year I hope to just set my own eggs with a rooster.

I did order chicks through Meyers coming, I wanted to point out a couple of tricks.
>When ordering assortments they give a variety of 3 or 5kinds, I order the most of that number because I like a variety. For example if they say 5 rare assortments I get 5, then 3 white assortments, (whites have a better chance of a rare then brown egg layers. So the whites are the next best thing, I ordered 2 sets of white egg layers and got rare birds.)
And of course ask for the meal maker.
>Shipping is only $10 for 25+(not including the meal maker) I have ordered the birds I wanted then fluffed with fry pan bargains to bring the numbers up, some times you may get a female in those. (I have gotten 3) Fry pans are only 1 dollar each. I think you might be able to ask for a discount if ordering a large number.
> if ordering after Oct. and it is 15-25 chicks I would request a heat pad.
I am willing to answer questions on them, I ordered many this year and last year.

I have also ordered about all assortments, kinds.

I put my eggs into their lock down. Not every egg was ready for it but the Lavener Americanna hit day 21 on friday/Satuday. So they needed the lock down. Deathlayers aren't looking very good. I have two eggs were the veins didn't decide to go completely around the egg so that is worrying on those. But one did look good and had some movement hatch day for them is Satuday/Sunday. I don't think I will set eggs in the middle of the night again it gets very confusing.

Black East Indies Should be due on Tuesday next week. So we will see what happens with those only one egg had noticable movement but all the remaining eggs have veins so I left them.

The first target I saw in a goose egg, I started collecting every one they laid. I never have seen a successful-appearing mating between any of my geese and the gander (no bluetooth either 😂). I saw lots of awkward attempts, but nothing I would call a possible success at all. Yet every single egg I have set in the incubator (and most of those the geese incubated partway) started visibly developing on around the 6-7th day. Maybe he gets nervous when he feels me watching him? :gigI did give them a kiddie pool. I think this is also recommended for fertility in heavier ducks, but I don't remember for certain.

Why not give yours a trial in the incubator?

Kinda funny story... I have a rooster who carried over from last winter and around 30-ish hens. I "knew" there was no way he could cover them all, and I obviously didn't know which of the eggs I collected would be fertile, so I stuffed, sans turner, as many eggs into my incubator as could possibly fit. I figured after the first week, I'd toss the clears and have plenty of room. :lau I think I may have had 3 clears--or 2. Don't remember for certain. There were some late quitters, but nearly every egg developed. I had to hand-turn the whole time, and I have WAY more chicks than I intended to have. 🙄

And I hate that darned rooster! He's a sneak. Usually I'm watching but if I get distracted, he's all over me. He makes good chicks, though. Gonna make good chicken soup too, now that I have plenty of boys around again.

Looking for opinions...it is day 5, and just want to check that these are definite blood rings?
One of the blood rings has been that shape since day 2 and has just gotten larger. The second one (sorry the pic is a little blurry) did have spider veins and now has gone to a blood ring shape. 😔

They aren’t smelling or weeping or anything, but wondering whether i should go ahead and take them out?

also, these 2 are definitely infertile right? They light up with no sign of any veins at all.

Should I toss all 4? They don’t look like they’re developing at all to me but was seeking more opinions from experience before I take them out.
