June Hatch-A-Long

First 5 are in the brooder now, 2 more have just hatched. I got about 5 hours of sleep for checking on them.

They're so cute! You beat me, I'm running on 3 hours and lots of coffee! lol

@CluckNDoodle no photos?!?!? Whaaaaat?

did you keep any mauve Orpingtons? You better have! ;)

@jmns I’m so sorry about the troubles. It’s been my experience that if cross beak is enough to notice while they’re in the incubator..... it’s probably way too extreme of a case to survive. Most of the people who have success with raising a cross beak chick don’t notice for several days that it even has a small cross beak. As the chick grows a hard to notice cross beak becomes pretty bad. One that started out bad gets downright awful to manage.

there are a few FB groups for caring for disabled chicks if you’re on Facebook and you want to try for the chick, I’ll send you the links.
Thanks @jolenesdad! Yes, this is definitely congenital, as she also has the eye issue and her skull is deformed. I already let the breeder know, as I from what I understand the parent birds should not be bred again in this case. I know she will not likely survive, but as long as she wants to be here, I will look after her. :)
I am not on facebook, but I did hook up with a thread on here. Thank you, though.:love

I think my Meyer chicks will get here fast, tracking says it is already at their post office (not just a track number), most of the time they don't get the order to their post office until 4 pm their time. first stop.
I have a chick order with Murray next week, hope they are as quick!:)

Final chick tally this month. 3 out of 34. Must be some kind of record!:yesss:
Thank you all on this thread for your support and kindness. Really is a great place to be!
Makes you want to be on a hatch a-long every month! (I know, some of you are...)
Love to all and everyone stay healthy and safe!:love:love:love
