I'm candelling pekins tomorrow. Any tips for candelling bantam eggs? Do i need less power in my light lest i cook them? Ta!

I use the same light to candle my bantam eggs as my regular size eggs. They will be fine with the same light.

I know this is going to sound like a silly question but do we have the bantam Pekins here in the US? I have heard people from different countries mention pekins so I looked them up and it sound s like they are different from our bantam cochin. I always thought a pekin was a duck. I'm learning something new everyday. That's why I love this site.

I slipped slightly. I have Lavender Orpington eggs being shipped to me to tomorrow. But only because due to an issue with the hatchery loosing all of its eggs 3 weeks ago 3 days before hatch date when mine were supposed to ship I will only be getting at most 5 of the chicks I ordered.

I am picking up BCM eggs tonight. Same breeder. Got a 100% hatch rate last time so I figured it was worth it to try again.

They will be hatching on June 14th

How early has anyone’s pullets gone broody? My bantam Brahma is only 6 months old and already broody. She was pissed because my husband took all her eggs away. I told him to show me which ones she had and I put 4 of her own and a Rhode Island egg in the nesting box.

She shoved them underneath her so she definitely is broody.

The white Cochin is in the other nesting box but not staying so I don’t really want to give her eggs but I might.

All my chickens have waited until they were a year or 2 old to go broody. I don't get many broody's at all.

This one growled and puffed right up. It made me laugh because she’s so tiny.
