June Hatch-A-Long

With tan you may end up with a light green, aka Easter Egger. Olive eggers are usually from dark brown eggs layers like Marans or Welsummers crossed with a blue egg layer in their first generation. Furthre generations you can continue to manipulate the shades of green that you get but when fiddling with egg colors it's always a surprise.

This is my Not-so-Olive-Egger. She lays a dusty brown to pinkish egg and came from a Marans over Ameraucana cross much like the hatch I'm doing this month too!

She's beautiful! Most certainly has the Maran shaped egg too!

I imagine that blue would be a recessive trait so would probably depend on if the sire had any blue genetics in his background. It's an interesting question. I'll have to look into the genetics of egg color.
H'm, interesting! Apparently the blue egg gene is dominant, which with my limited knowledge I found a bit surprising.

I got the 1/4" "medium" sized bands and they worked well for my chicks. You may need to get a couple sizes if you want to change them out as they grow.
I’ll look around and see what I can find. I just need them on until they’re old enough to not escape the fencing then I don’t need them. Everyone in the fenced in run is named and I know everything about them. It’s just all the chicks in the brooder that would get confused.
