June Hatch-A-Long

Looking over the paperwork these ducklings hatched on the 15th at 7am and I got them this morning! No wonder 5 passed! Is that timeframe between hatch and getting them normal?
That does seem a bit long, though with Meyer being in OH it means a rather long trip too. Was there a delay along the way?

1 LO hatched and another one externally pipped this morning!

They are the rare exception!
I know ostrich are protective. My grandfather was a breeder and sold them to local restaurants for meat and eggs. He had such beautiful birds. We went to work on their stalls one day and they kept stealing the tools and pecking our heads 😂 My grandfather trained them to learn commands. It was incredible. Best memories from my childhood. I got my crazy animal genes from my grandfather. I miss him a ton, he passed away when I was in middle school, it was one of the toughest times of my life.

I’d buy mine from this farm. I yell “LLMAMA LLAMA DING DING” every time by their house because they have llamas too and they always look at me 😂 think they know it’s me by now.
How long have they had alpacas?

Double dog dare you to sing that while standing directly in front of those llamas....

30+ years. We know someone who breeds goats too. We are set for a farm honestly I just need to find the land that’s perfectly located. I want to get closer to my parents house. I’m a daddies girl. We text every single day.

The ducklings came from a sister hatchery out of southern Cali. Which makes me scratch my head even more about the time frame.

Sure thing meant to share, the seller is skywalker2136. Those are my pictures, took them myself ;).

At 30 years they would have had to have been in on some of the very first imports from South America. The original stock to reach the US. Or very shortly obtained such stock there after because alpacas are relatively new to the US. Llamas are not but alpacas are.
If they have continuously bred those lines to enhance the rugged traits then that would be very unusual.
Still, at such lighter weights alpaca cannot defend themselves well against coyote or dogs, big chicken predators. Llamas can stomp a dog and an alpaca may kick, but with padded feet all it does is stun a canine.

It is, however, very funny to watch a cria run through a flock of chickens.

Sorry, I forgot you ordered yours earlier this week. I ordered from the same seller, how do yours look? You got 11, right?
