June Hatch-A-Long

Not hotter than the summer heat but I guess since it’s the start of the summer they haven’t gotten acclimated. Like it’s starting to get in the 90s and will keep climbing as the weeks go by.
You're right--they'll probably get used to it. The more you can help them keep cool, the better they'll like it, though. Some ideas: a shallow (inch or two) pool/new oil-change pan, ice in their water, lots of shade, fan, maybe even blowing toward them over a bowl of ice...

Our chickens, in a past life, liked 2 liter soda bottles, frozen, and placed around the coop that they could lay up against.:)

Here is a picture I managed to snap when I got momma out to help the stuck duckling.

I have a turkey under the deck who just hatched three poults from the three eggs I gave her in exchange for her three precious fake eggs. I have two hens in the upper story nest boxes, one with (as of today) a cute pale yellow fluffball under her. More to come... I have another hen in a tractor nest with developing eggs--about 2/3 cooked, imo. I have two sillies sitting on nothing in one case and three fake eggs in the other. I didn't let them have real eggs because they can't seem to figure out which box they want. And I thought I was done hatching...
