But on a positive note, momma 2 has 2 BBS AMs under her tonight!! Whoot!! She's hatched 3 or the 6.., pulled 2 early for none development so 1 to go!!

Aww sorry your chick didn't make it. Did it seem to be getting weaker? My Mini (crusty chick) is still going strong. Spends more time under mama than the others but when she's out & about she's running around, eating and drinking like the others. Hopefully she makes it (and is really a "she"!). Fingers crossed your last egg hatches!

I've spent the past few days reading thru all the posts in this thread, hoping to learn a little something about hatching! I'm a beginner.

I decided I wanted to try hatching, and since my husband is a cabinet maker, I had him build me an incubator for the same cost as buying a styrofoam one.

Anyway, I drove 2 hours to a swap, picked up 20 welsummer eggs (possible blue ameraucana cross) and 12 bb red bantam eggs, and put them in Sunday. So day 21 is June 30th!

OK I need some HELP. Somehow I just won a dozen hatching eggs in a contest. I have these breeds to pick from HELP!!!

Lavender Orps, Black Copper Marans, Egyptian Fayoumis,Welsummers, Black Australorps. Golden Lakenvelders, Golden Campines,Salmon Faverolles, Blue Andalusians or Gold Laced Brahmas.


Which ones do I choose?

I am partial to the Welsummers. They are smart and great foragers.

Well I finally set some more eggs yesterday... (18) Barnyard mix or mutts is what you'd call 'em I guess. So hatch day is July 2nd! Looks like we already need a July hatch-a-long

I'm setting mutts this Saturday! Anything I find in the nests tomorrow and Friday are going in the bator. I gotta figure out what I'm doing wrong when incubating before I do any more heritage eggs.

Alright, last Ameraucana hatched, now i have some more Ameraucana eggs i just set, along with some Pekin, and Khaki Ducks

I may go out and stick them under the
broody though......I am tired with all the ones in the brooders..............

I don't have any of those.....................soooooooooooo maybe I'll put the incubator away.............
