I'm at the end of day 19. No rocking, no cheeping, nothing.
Oh, well.
For 2 1/2 weeks the temp was rock steady at 99+ but not quite 100. Now I can't keep in even. When I got home today (after being gone several hours) it was down to 97. Now it is at 100. Is this a function of something going on with the eggs or is it a problem with the thermostat. I'm pulling my hair out.
To add insult to injury, my BO seems to be going broody. She was in her favorite spot in the corner of the coop this afternoon growling at everyone who came near. I stole her egg and got pecked for my trouble. Tonight she was still in the same spot when I went out to secure the coop. Dang. How long does it take to know if a hen is really broody? I've not had one before -- and me with no rooster. Bummer.
