She is a black Cochin. The girls are up to 9 babies and 8 eggs left to go!Is that a black sex link???
The coloring looks like it, but I don't know all the breeds of chickens.
I thought that sex links never went broody?
Cute pic!

Reurra, they are adorable! Glad they made it! My hatch is officially over. Interestingly, the two eggs that did not hatch were the smallest and the largest, which underscores what I have read that "normal" eggs (size, texture, shape) hatch at a higher rate. After another motionless candle, I did an eggtopsy. The small egg looked perfectly normal. No idea why it died. The large egg had a lot of clear, sterile-looking fluid in it, and the chick was small for the amount of space it had. Air cell was normal in size, and no internal pip. The chick had a marked underbite, which makes me think it probably had other abnormalities that prevented it from hatching. So, I got 7 chicks from 9 eggs, and I am pretty darn thrilled

Hey thats a great hatch rate! I had 4 infertile, 4 quits around day 16, 2 quits on the last day and 2 hatched. so 2 out of 12 is a horrible rate, but Im really glad the 2 I have made it.
My last hatch had 2 that died in the egg from too much of the clear fluid. Its called albumin. They drowned in it I think. The one that did hatch from the oversized egg was one that pipped the wrong end and i accidentally dropped it when iw as trying to get it out of the incubator. I think thats the only reason it survived because then the excess fluid drained off and he was able to breath.
I love your pics ceocka!!! Those are awesome!
I ended up with 2 chicks hatching wirh assistance. One is really small compared to the other. If I hadn't helped, they would have been shrink wrapped for sure. Both have membrane stuck to them! One has it stuck to her eye. Hope this won't cause problems for her!! (I say her but don't know for sure).
