June Hatch a Long

Confusing myself counting. Have 4 left in the BSL/ Austrawhite hatcher. 3 whites and 1 brown. And 1 of each pipping. Only lost 1 so far from the drowning. A bunch more in the other bator. Assisted a couple in pipping. Had broke membrane and got rolled. Made sure breath holes were established waiting on going farther because of last hatch yolk dilema. Feeling great about this as I've said another scrap turned gold.
So count I just took I think are (Don't quote me) 6 BA, 7 SL (4 male, 3 females) 2 Austrawhites (1 is black LOL) and 3 CochinxBuffs. I gotta count eggs in bator for lockdown now. I forgot to write em down LOL

UPDATE. All eggs except 2 whites have pipped. Most extrernal. couple internals. Hoping just waiting for grand entrances. If not its still great. If no more pip deaths it would be around 90% roughly hatch rate. Believe I FORGOT to count eggs. LOL its around 30 at lockdown. Couple I rolled and assisted had some shrinkage so prolly not all make it. But we can hope.

I think we're close enough don't you??? Glad you're seeing wonderful results!!

I put eggs in today too! So we will be hatch buddies.

I also lost one of my RIR girls today. :(

And some one responded to my Craigslist ad about my horses. But it is my mustang the one I want to keep. It is the paint who threw my daughter off that needs to go. I think I might cry. I thought this was going to be easy cuz it was the right thing to do. Then why is it so hard?
it always hurts to part with a critter at least it does around our place

Same here. And adds insult to injury if its a productive critter. Lost a BA hen awhile back due to her LACK of fear of my truck starting. Think she was the starting idea of the great repopulation of my flock(s). Should have close to 15-20 BA's though when hatch is complete from 2 hatches and started with 4(After the truck accident). 2 of each sex. And 1 BA went to SL flock then culled. And best part (For me anyway) is none are hatchery stock. these are all my own birds hatching. From birds that are 3+ years old they should have great life exspectancies.

Just unpacked 9 columbian rock eggs they will be going in the bator in the morning. Really excited i didnt think i was going to get this color until next year. This is my second time incubating. I did barred and bbs rocks in march.

the fan will make a huge difference make sure u run it on 9v or less to tame it down a lil good luk and post results
I had it on 12V, i will probably change it out with 9V when i get home today. the humidity has gone way up (78%) i'm in Utah and it's very dry so i removed one of the red caps (i have a LG) and the humidity fell to around 73%. I'll remove some water today, and turn down the fan. I am hoping it will hover around 40-50% afterwards. All my chicks seem healthy so far. I have removed about 2 Ameraucana, and 1 Barnevelder due to definite bloodring. My silkie has still been putting out some eggs, but only about 2 of the 6 seem fertile. I'll give them another few days and remove the clear ones soon. Getting excited. About 5 days until lockdown!

P.S. The temperature is very uniform now. Thermometers on top of eggs in middle of bator match exactly therms on outside edges on bottom of eggs! Glad i decided to add the fan! Hoping for a good hatch.

On a sad note, I'm down to 2 of 6 of the local eggs that got cracked by my broody hens. On a GOOD note, 14/18 shipped eggs are developing as of day 6!!

Also here's one of my duck eggs (the ones on Day 13 today) I candled last night! Hoping to see it out of the shell in 2 weeks :)

Yea you will see increases up to 30% in hatch rates believe it or not compared to still air a case fan @12v is a lil to aggressive the air needs to be forced up and off the top of the bator gently to allow a even distribution of heat with out a draft it will not be a problem for you till after hatch when the chicks are drying out they can not be exposed to strong air movement I have used old 9v cell phone chargers with great succeess as far as the vent plugs on the LG I would stabilize your temps and humidity with the plugs out to encourage a good fresh o2 turnover rate as the eggs during all stages of incubation and especially @ hatch time put off quite a bit of co2 and need allot of fresh air to maintain vigor ,,,, good luk up that way with your hatch
