June Hatch a Long

Wright I never locked down my broodies. Lockdown is a term only for artificial incubation, since humidity and temp are so crucial in an incubator. I let my hens out and give them a break no matter what day it is. When the chicks are peeping in the eggs I leave her alone :)

Well i my incubator has been working perfectly. Humidity is at 45% and holding well. I flipped my fan around so that it is facing away from the eggs, and got it tuned in after the change. Both plugs are out and the 2nd plug (above fan in LG) is covered 2/3 by electrical tape to maintain humidity, but still push out old air, and draw new air in past the heating element through the other vent. I am so glad i decided to install the PC fan in there. I have 3 thermometers and they nearly exactly on the button as far as temp goes. Tomorrow evening is lockdown, I should have Barnevelders, and Ameraucanas hatching out around 6/7. I'll fill all my water channels, and possibly put a sponge in if needed by tomorrow to up my humidity to 70-80%. All the air sacs look as they should. Very excited!

It has been about 5-6 hours since my quail have have been out of the shell and they pretty much do nothing but kick vigerouly on their sides. I swear they kick while sleeping! They make me think of newborns that need to swaddled. Is that normal or should I be conserned?
