June Hatch a Long

Yeah those are some jacked up air cells. You will be lucky to get anything to hatch. But it can happen, you need to get the humidity in there down in the 40's. There is no way to judge air cells when they are torn like that. It also prevents the chick from developing properly. And even if all this happens, most wont make it past an internal pip. You are going to have to watch these by the hour the closer you get to hatch day.

My shipped eggs all had air cells similar to that. I had 8 out of 14 hatch (2 were duds pre-lockdown). Some I thought were too small or too weird to hatch did fine. Some that looked okay failed to even pip internally. Crossing my fingers for you!

I have Broodys coming out of my ears right now eggie I cleaned out the bottom compartment of my gas grill and put a broody and six chicks In it till I made othe arrangements so I think youl be ok temporarily
Good to know! And now I all I can think about is staging that picture for my Christmas cards or something...LOL
AutoCAD? :) I am a drafter myself...

BigT88: Hi! I am in York county PA!! :)
Yep! Nice to meet another woman drafter! What kind of work do you do? I do mostly precast concrete - either for new construction or sometimes I have to recreate drawings that are lost for repair projects (old factories, stadiums, etc.).

lol I think the pictures are a bit blurry. Those are not the air cells, the air cells are down in my palm. That there is the albumen. It does kinda look like air cells huh?

Hi, all!! Day 20. I could no longer stand not knowing which eggs were viable an which were not from candling so I did the float test on the 9 eggs I put under the broody last weekend. 5 wigglers and 4 gone. Broke the dead ones open and it appeared that the there was some initial development but not much. Cracked them open very carefully and it seemed like the yolk sacs were already broken which may be the reason for the loss. Anyway, at least now I have a better idea of what to look for when candling.

The two I stole from the broody that are a week behind the others are doing great in the bator. Now that I have a little more experience, I have a better idea of what I am looking at. I can see movement on these two where I really coudn't tell on the others. Hopefully have some pics to send in a couple days. I can't believe I made it this far. Figured I'd killed them all...LOL!!

Oh! How old are they? Were they shipped? I never even really looked at the bottom half of my eggs when I candle. Tonight is Day 18 - wonder what mine will look like tonight.
