It would be about 98% if I had not set any from the little guy who I had NEVER got a fertile egg from. He went to a new (pet) home yesterday though, so he will be well loved and appreciated.

when do i candle my eggs the first time to outline the air sack, before i start incubating or on the seventh day?

I dont candle and mark till day 7. Others might have a different preference

That air cell is going to change every day. If you want to keep track of it, I would do it when you candle after setting. I usually candle at day 4 or 5, then again at day 10, then day 18 at lockdown. (Sometimes a time or so more if I see eggs I'm not quite positive of) I probably candle more than some folks might recommend actually. >.>

Dolfi ,read back on the incubation method I explained to you last night inspect and candle your eggs when they arrive from the shipper if you don't have a jewelers scale to weigh them don't worry you can get the same results from marking the air cell take the eggs and mark and number them candle and use a pencil to outline the air cell and take notes on the overall condition of the air cell shell quality and any thing else of note write this down in a note book with the corresponding number of the egg do the entire set in the same way then set them to rest for 24 hrs on day 7 candle again and look for the obvious and again outline the air cell with a pencil now you have two different outlines you will repeat this at day 14 and again at lock down day 18 you will have four different air cell outlines by day 18 this will guide you on the internal evaporation inside the egg along the way you may be required to slow the evaporation and growth of the air cell versus size of the embryo and this is done with humidity control later this evening I will post a graphic for you with air cell development over the 18 day incubation period so you can know what size it should be at any givin point in the process of incubation KEEP NOTES I can't stress this enough if you have problems you cant correct them if you don't know when or where it went sideways

. I have the same issues with cockerels as I think many other breeders do it's not so much a issue with his equipment but his technique at a young age I'm sure he will be king of the castle some day where ever he lands lol

I have young crested Dom cockerel about 7 months old I will be moving into the breeding pen in about a week my Dom pullets have started to lay a egg here and there so I'm gonna give them a go and test fertility to try and haul some eggs to a friend in the states in July I have him turned out with my free range flock now to work on his skills with the lady's so far so good I have noticed he has separated a small group from my flock master roo kelloggs and seems to be holding his own for a young guy I hope all is well with his mechanics as he is the only crested Dom I have ever seen and is a nice looking guy can't wait to see what he puts out

Welcome and Good luck on all your hatches. Great bunch of people here, Both BYC and in the hatchalong threads. Keep me typing so I ain't gnawing my fingers off in the stressful spots. Like every other day during incubation so far this year it seems. Although we do sometimes enable others and get ideas, sometimes purposely.

Don't know if I updated yesterday But candled some rouen/guinea eggs yesterday and have some good developement in a good portion. The rouens are 1 of my top to get list because I only have a pair and the drake was beat up and young when I got him a few weeks back. He does do thejob though and now he's king of the yard when his mate is out. Which is always.
Broody hen should be around the 3rd for a due dat. A guinea hen could be anytime now. So I gotta watch for oodles of babies soon.

 Just think of what gets his interest the MOST. And say "You were doing (Insert activity)." its even if its playing dirty. Its all ok when chicken math is involved.
