June Hatch a Long

My grand daughters LOVE my silkie babies. Right now I have 4.

4 silkies or 4 granddaughters? My little one loves my birds and she spends a large portion of her weekend in the chicken run with the girls. She has been nagging to have chicks and soon she will have if my hatch is successful. I will have to check she doesn't hide any under her jumper when it is time to go home because I wouldn't put it past her to try.

I do love her to bits and wish she could be with me more often because I know she loves animals and would be a great chicken mommy surrogate

Betty only has six(ish) more days to sit on those eggs. All seven are still doing fantastic - as of candling last night :D
congratulations on all the hatches going on already!

LOL I have 5 grand daughters, and 4 silkie chicks. But only 3 grand daughters are old enough to enjoy the chicks, 10 yr old 5 yr old and 7 yr old. And of course 8 more chicks in the incubator!

Picked up my 9 local cream Legbar hatching eggs today, beautiful blue! I am letting them settle while my incubator stabilizes, then I am actually going to set them on Tues (carefully timing lockdown/hatch around a trip).
Two of the eggs have air cells on the side of the egg. These are fresh, non-shipped eggs, with no more than typical bumping on the highway on the drive home. The air cells are NOT mobile, but very fixed in that position. They are settling pointy end down, but I seriously doubt these cells are going anywhere. Should I still try to incubate them? Anyone with experience with eggs like this?

May have been from the way she had them stored? Or how long they layed in the nest before gathered? Go ahead and pop them in the bator once it is stable!

On Lockdown. Last Candling I saw nothing but black and the air cell. Here is to hoping that my nerves survive the next few days.
