June Hatch a Long

Oh wow!!! A HUGE CONGRATS to everyone!!! What beautiful little babies!!! OMG I am going crazy waiting over here! Tomorrow is day 18 for me and everything is going by SO slowly!!! At least I have all of your beautiful little ones to watch until then :D

I know what you mean...... If I put my eggs in lockdown tonight at about 10ish instead of 7am tomorrow morning, will it make the time go quicker until hatch day?

I normally resist Mondays but tomorrow can't come quick enough for me.

the last 3 days are the worst part for me too hehe.

I now have 15 babies and waiting on 13 more to hatch.

Congrats everyone! I had 4 polish hatch 3 oegb 1 Cochin and 1 mystery. The mystery is from my flock. I have in that pen...1 RIR hen 1 buff orphington hen and 1 black copper maran hen and 1 blue Wheaton. The chick is a beautiful pale yellow with one small black dot on its back. Oh and 4 quail hatched. I will have to check calendar for next lockdown. I will take pics of the new babies in the morning!

:woot

I'm on day 21 and nothing happening yet but that's ok. When I candled they seemed to be a little small yet...? Is that from too low temps!

I would LOVE if I have them start to hatch early ^_^

Small is usually from low temps or fluctuating temps. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad! It just would mean they will take their time :)

Haha!!! I wish putting them into lockdown a day early meant that they would hatch a day early!

I'm in the same boat, but day 20. When I candled before locking them down on Friday, they seemed a little small, but I've never done it before, so I don't know what I'm looking at. The person I borrowed the incubator from suggested giving them 23 days before running a float test, so that's where I'm heading with it.

Good luck.

This is like my 6th hatch... And this always happens. Temp has been steady the whole time but perhaps 99 is too low. I can't seem to get it to go any higher though. Or if it does go higher it skyrockets! That's a lot worse so I just leave it at 99. Guess that's my problem. Unfortunaly I've had bad hatches too. So... Once I get all my shipped eggs done in July I will be switching to my flock and get some more testing done so maybe I can get perfection!! Yeah, right!

I have a still air hovabator that I use for incubation and a little giant still air I move them to for hatching. (One of these days I will have an awesome bator like Jnj!!)

Excellent sbrown! You did great! Sweet little chickies!
Sounds great monita! First things first - COFFEE!!!

I'm trying to get my LG still air to behave! I'll be hatching in it next week & was wondering if anybody had any tips on how to get the $@&?!$ thing to stabilize the temp?! It's on a level floor in dim room. No sunlight gets to it. Maybe I'm not waiting long enough to get a proper reading after adjusting?
HI, We have the same incubator......................................I think you answered your own question.
Probably not waiting long enough for a true reading..............In instructions for dry hatching.( also with LG still air)
she says it can take 24 hrs.....to stabilize...................And so important to remember not to try to change the temp after adding the eggs.............
Adding the eggs will cause it to go down initially............not to worry.............
it will stabilize on it's own and it may take awhile...
Once I got my temp set, I have never had to touch it..........Mine runs 100 on the button and I just leave it there.
Every time I try to up it a little. .I end up with it going to high.
There is a thread on hatching with Little Giant where people give tons of hints and share their experience..............
Good Luck

Well 12 went into lock down. So far I have 3 out. 1 legbar and 2 Ameracaunas. I lost my silkie, lost 2 legbars, lost 3 Ameracaunas, all 6 hatched and died in the middle of the night. VERY weird. The 2 legbars pipped at wrong end, the 2 who died both his veins and bled out. 2 of the 3 ameracaunas did the same. Silkie, pipped and then just died. I still have 4 more going. Cant wait to get eggs in my new incubator. Having air flow issues right now! Always something!
