June Hatch a Long

Uggg! So mad at myself :-( I. Just dropped an egg. Perfectly formed chick inside. I know its happened to others too but I feel horrible!
I'm sorry!
My first hatch on day 15 I opened the ones I thought were duds and accidently put one of the developed ones in with them.
It was pretty horrific to sit there and watch it die.
Just try to focus on the ones you still have, I'm so sorry you had to go through this!

Does anyone think it would hurt to lock down a few hours early? I'm on day 14. Of a 16 day incubation. I'm afraid of breaking another when we are so close.

WOW!!!! I don't have anyone out... and just the one in the wrong position zipping, yet. BUT I do have 7 pips now :D CONGRATS!!!

Thanks so much, I was thinking that nothing would ever happen and then within 15 minutes 2 of them hatched and then another pipped, zipped and hatched before I realised that it had even pipped as I was watching the first 2.

How long does it take for them to fluff up so I can take them out of the incubator cos they are really rolling the other eggs around?

It usually takes at least an hour. I'm always too afraid to ever open it during hatching...

Here is my first little one! She made it out on her own! Pipped and zipped in the wrong place but she made it! The funny thing is she was one of my "fridge" eggs. That is one of the two I had in the refrigerator for a week before setting! (EE mother Lavender roo) I have 8 more pips now too! Whooo!

I want to take the 3 out so that the others can hatch in peace but they are not dry yet. The first one is becoming fluffy but the last one is still quite wet. Does that mean I have high humidy in the incubator still? I don't have a hydrometer inside the bator because I did not have space to put it without leaving it on top of eggs which I did not want to do. I am using a brinsea 20 and both channels still have water.

I give mine at least 12 hours, longer if I have other eggs pipped. They can stay in there up to 48 hours. It's important not to take them out before they're dry. If they catch a chill, their little systems will start to shut down, and they can die.

I always want to take them out... but I don't unless they are the last ones. I won't risk shrink wrapping the others. Just try to walk away and not watch lol

If it makes you feel any better I can't even count my pips anymore because that one in there won't stop running around and all the other eggs have rolled pip side down now.
