June Hatch-A-Long

Latest hatch 1 hatcher was great, 1 was a bust, Was at hospital with wife. Temp dipped and daughter was impatient, when I got home eggs were 122 degrees. Some were pipped prior to her adjustment. SO those BSL's were out. Luckily I had WLH,RIR and MP in 2nd hatcher. Still 1 more batch in bator for this year. Have 6 broodies now so I will let the incubating wait til later this summer.
how awful. Tiny fried chickens.
I'm hanging out with 2 sick turkeys in my bed...

yeah I bought 3 of them. My stupid mutt decided to break down the door and play with one and killed it so now I have a roo and 1 hen. The hen that got killed was the only one laying after the long travel and she gave me 2 i think fertile eggs. So I tossed them in the bator. They are going to be very selectively bred to try to meet SoP

That's great. They need to be bred right. I got some eggs yrs. ago. The guy I got them from was on here. He actually showed his birds. It's the same as when you breed any animal..cat..dog...you will get SQ, hopefully or Pet Quality. Mine were ok. They sure are cute though. Fun little birds. It's good to see that folks are still breeding them .. but I fear, only here and there.
My babies..and a couple of photos of them a bit older..not full grown.
It's funny, when I google Nankins, one of these younger photos is in their photos.

Sweet little birds. :)

I got very lucky with these. I found them locally for $30 because her husband was making her thin out her chickens. (She had over 300) The need some work on wattle shape and uniformity, comb (more defined spikes) and a bit of ear lobe color if babies get the white spots from mom. Other than that everything on them meets standard. It will be a project for sure. Now to decide which part I want to "fix" first.

Hi everyone...hope you don't mind if I join you. I have 39 eggs in the incubator now set to hatch late on Saturday/early Sunday. I've got a few eggs that are starting to move a little. This is my first incubator hatch, I hatched out one baby with my broody and got hooked :)

Welcome! The more the merrier. :)

So it's 10 am on June 10. 11:30 am makes day 21 and nothing. No pips, no zips and no cheeps. I am soon close to grabbing one out and candling it.
