Wow so much I don't know. I was surprised my quail are different colors! I'm gonna take a wild guess here, lol and say ones a girl and ones a boy. Any idea which is which? They're coturnix.

quail(coturnix and button) dont breed true very often...you could breed two that look exactly alike and have a chance of not getting a chick the same color as the parents...though some colors/patterns are strong and always get passed...my original pair of buttons is a silver hen and pied roo...i always get a few white or pieds when i hatch their eggs but i get a whole rainbow of other colors as well.

so with your two cuties you'll have to wait till they grow to see which is a boy and which is a girl heck you could even have to girls or two boys

Ok here's the egg that pipped on the wrong end I pulled back some shell. Just leave it? For how long?

If it didn't bleed when you peeled some back then keep peeling. Until the chick is mostly out. I usually let them make it the last little bit out on their own. But I would get it to where most of the chick is exposed and no possible way of getting stuck.

I just checked again and its out! I thought if they break through on the wrong end they immediately drowned. I'm about half way through this hatch now. 6 quail and 6 chicks. All the ameraucana look the same, blue I guess. I thought I'd get a mix of blue, black and splash. Hope the rest hatch.
