My Marans egg are in lock down right now, but look like nothing is going to happen with them. Its day 21 and no pips. I had 3 of the Sussex hatch, and 3 buttons and 2 pheasant. I'm down to 1 turkey egg but its developing.

Not as great as some hatches I've had, but not as terrible as others, lol.
Are those Bob's Sussex-mix chicks?

Little Bob (the chick we hatched with Bob's last egg before we sold him) hatched last night. She's not amused with the empty brooder, and it'll be a few days before she has company. We put her in as a control egg with the Sebrights, but they didn't make it.

I am 0 for 2 with swap eggs that should have hatched. For some reason I cannot hatch Silkies. I had 4 Partridge Silkies go to lockdown. They were still moving on day 20. I checked today and they died. I had 1 Delaware from another go to lockdown and also died. I need to candle my last set yet.
My Iowa Blue that can be hard to hatch are popping out like popcorn, though.
Jim I'm very sorry to hear that your silkies didn't make it. I've heard a lot of people say they are hard to hatch. This is what works for me hope it helps others. Days 1-18 humidity 30-35% and temperature 100.6* F, Lockdown 50% humidity and 98.5*F. This has really worked well for me and I have about 80-95% hatches from my silkies at home.

well, glad to say, 7/8 guineas made it...

now the question... what color are they? 3 are a light whitish grey, 4 are brown striped/spotted

Yes, judges. I had 4 of them not pip, something that dosn't usually happen to me, but says good things about your packing. My little bobs are very cute, all yellow and fluffy. My friend who's staying with us said its the first thing I've hatched that looks like a real chicken, lol.

Im guessing their mothers were orphies, but i've got no idea really. Light brown eggs and bright yellow chicks with spindly feet.

Didn't pip? Did they develop at all? Hoping to make sure I pack correctly next time.

Our Little Bob is fluffily and yellow, too. She is cuddling up with a mounded towel. I think they were either Faverolle or NHRed eggs, perhaps Buff Sussex.

didnt pip. looks like they stopped about 20, partially absorbed yolk. def survived shipping. My bators fault
Wow, I've never had the guts to actually open them. I admire you!

Glad the shipping worked, it always seems such a gamble!

Looks like our Little Bob is from either a Buff Sussex or NHRed hen. She definitely has some buff/red in her down, now that she's finally fluffing up. Some of Bob's other chicks that were a stark yellow feathered out white of cream. My youngest's preschool hatched one from him that was from a GLW hen. The rose comb gave it away. Turned out to be a cream and black laced chick. Beautiful!

OMG, the mini bobs are trying to escape their new mother and run around the yard! DH named them bobwhite, bob hope and bob marley!

That's hilarious!!

Little Bob is still upset at being alone in the brooder, but she's cuddling with her dishtowel. We put her brooder next to the washer and hot water pump, so she's getting some constant noise, at least.

Great names!!
