So I'm starting to collect eggs for my broody but my question is.. I ran out of oyster shell a while ago and I keep forgetting to buy some, can I still hatch there eggs? They are on layer feed.

I’m not an expert but my understanding is you don’t really need to feed them layer pellets and oyster shells. The oyster shell is if you are feeding a feed without the calcium. Like in my case. I have a mix flock of different ages and I am feeding them growers crumbles with oyster shells on the side for those that are laying it’s available. Any one please correct me if I’m wrong.

ok so all of my eggs that i put under my broody will be barn yard mix lol and i think i am going to be collecting my white leghorns eggs and my EEs eggs mix with my cochin rooster

I haven't started my eggs yet, but i will on Friday! We just go a 24 egg automatic incubator, and this is our first time hatching chickens. We are going to be doing silkies, bantam Americana, and polish. Can't wait!

Avoid extreme or prolonged temperature fluctuations, keep a clean incubator and candle at least twice to remove deceased embryos or clear eggs.

How exciting. Both eggs are pipped!!! Hope they hatch soon!! Good luck
