These 7 Silkie chicks are 10 days old today. Photos from today as well. These are from eggs I had shipped from a show breeder on the mainland with the intention of adding fresh bloodlines to my flock. Looking to add an additional rooster. I intend on keeping all of them until they are old enough to determine their appropriateness for my breeding program. I sent the egg shells they hatched from in for DNA testing, so I would know what I have to work with.
Knowing that it’s almost impossible to gender ID Silkie chicks this young, I thought it would be fun if people wanted to take a guess. I am expecting the DNA results in the next few days and will post the answers. I have my suspicions which ones are male or female already but I have been wrong many times.🤣
Each bird is assigned a number and there are two photos of each bird.

*Tried to make a poll but it would not work for me. I will correct this if it’s working later.

#1. Pullet

#2. Cockerel

#3. Cockerel

#4. Pullet

#5. Pullet

#6. Pullet

#7. Cockerel

These are my guesses.😊
I have an edge in that I can interact with the birds and see their individual behaviors which sometimes can be helpful. I can also see their size comparisons to each other though they come from different pens from the breeder and have different parents.

1. Cockerel
2. Pullet
3. Cockerel
4. Pullet
5. Pullet
6. Pullet
7. Pullet

On the fence with chick 2, but leaning pullet.

I was actually hoping for more boys to choose from. We will see in a few days.🤣

The results are in already! Made a spoiler so others can try before checking their answers.😊

1. Pullet
2. Cockerel
3. Cockerel
4. Pullet
5. Pullet
6. Cockerel
7. Pullet

Congrats JacinLarkwell, you got all correct!😃
