So I got myself 10 old English bantam hatchlings that will be a week old tomorrow. I ordered the blood DNA tests for them (actually got 11, thanks for throwing in an extra!) and today I went to clip their toenails. I steeled myself to hurt my sweet little babies, I clipped one chick's nail to the quick and...no blood. I clipped a second, same chick, no blood. Soooo....how old do they have to be to get blood from their nails?! Lol
I can't have roos in my area so it's mandatory I know what their sexes are and start finding new homes for the boys, and my daughter gets attached really easily and I don't want to wait 4-5 weeks for their red to pop out not.
